Louis P. Batson, Jr. Cancer Care Center
Established in 1992, the Batson Cancer Care Center is on the fifth floor of
ST. FRANCIS downtown. It features 30 patient rooms, including four that are specially equipped for
bone marrow transplantation (BMT). Staffed with acclaimed, respected oncologists and specially trained nurses
and support personnel, the Center has access to:
Imaging and Diagnostic Services for identifying cancer, including X-ray, computed tomography (CT) scanning,
helical CT, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, mammography, stereotactic
biopsy and nuclear medicine.
Plain film radiology, fluoroscopic gastrointestinal studies, intravenous pyelography,
arthography and myelography methods to help physicians detect and diagnose cancer.
Mammograms and many other diagnostic radiology services. Two breast imaging centers,
one located at the
St. Francis Outpatient Center and one at
ST. FRANCIS eastside, feature private suites with state-of-the art mammography equipment designed
to help detect
breast cancer.
A Pathology Department for formal analysis of
cancer cells to help diagnose cancer, monitor prescribed treatments, predict and diagnose
infections, and establish guidelines used in cancer screenings and post-treatment
follow-ups.
