Bon Secours St. Francis Names Oncology Program Medical Director
Bon Secours St. Francis Health System has appointed Robert Siegel, MD, as Oncology Program Medical Director.
Dr. Siegel is a graduate of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and received his Hematology and Medical Oncology training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham & Women's Hospital of Harvard University. He served as a physician in Oncology Associates, PC, in Hartford, Conn., for the past 23 years and provided leadership as the Medical Director of Hartford Hospital's Cancer Clinical Research Office.
A member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Quality Oncology Practice Initiative Steering Committee, Dr. Siegel is prepared to lead the team of physicians at Bon Secours St. Francis to deliver compassionate, forward-thinking care to cancer patients across the Upstate.
As Cancer Program Medical Director, Dr. Siegel will be responsible for the design and initiation of population health management programs and serve as an educator to the medical staff, nursing personnel and physicians on processes and practices related to the oncology program. He will also provide strategic and visionary input to transform the delivery of care, enhancing clinical integration and care coordination across all venues of care within the Bon Secours St. Francis Health System Oncology Program.
“It took a lot to pry me away from my current position, but what I saw at St. Francis was a committed group of physicians, administrators and support staff that have developed an exceptional cancer care program,” said Dr. Siegel. “I am energized by the enthusiasm and passion that this team has for delivering high quality cancer care, and I look forward to working with them to expand the program.”
