The lush, green landscapes that make Greenville a beautiful city and a nature-lover’s haven come with a bit of a price – namely, a thick coat of yellow pollen that coats everything in sight in the spring.
In the 2014 ranking of the Worst US Cities for Allergies by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, Greenville ranked number 46. For any of you allergy sufferers, you may think that ranking should be much higher! (The list is based on an analysis of pollen scores, the number of allergy medications used per patient, and the number of board-certified allergists per patient.)
If you suffer from seasonal allergies, your primary care physician can recommend over-the-counter medications that may relieve the pain. If symptoms continue or get worse, you may be referred you to an Ear, Nose, & Throat (ENT) Specialist, as seasonal allergies can turn into recurring sinus infections or chronic sinusitis.
