home health services
Through the Home Health Services division of St. Francis HomeCare, we provide specially trained healthcare professionals to administer the types of treatment and therapies that family members often can't. Our team consists of:
- Registered Nurses
- Nurses specializing in Home Infusion (or IV Therapy)
- Wound and Ostomy Care Specialists
- Home Health Aides
- Physical Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Speech-Language Pathologists
- Medical Social Workers
We also assist family members in patient care, such as instructing them in the proper administration of medicines and the correct use of medical equipment.
In addition, we offer the services of medical social workers who provide patients and family members with support, counseling and the coordination of financial and community resources
Our Spiritual Care program provides chaplains who visit patients in their homes. These chaplains help patients work through spiritual and religious issues as they move from one level in the recovery process to the next. They help patients accept, reconcile and grieve diminished health, activity and independence when appropriate.
We are licensed and regulated by the State of South Carolina's Department of Health and Environmental Control and by the federal Medicare program. In addition, we are accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Our services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurers. Patients will not be denied services based on their ability to pay. We serve patients in Greenville, Anderson, Spartanburg, and Pickens counties.
Recognizing the importance of treating the whole patient, St. Francis HomeCare integrates spirituality into patient care in this unique program. The whole person is treated: body, mind, and spirit.
Our interest in caring for the sick in their homes is deep rooted. Our sponsoring Sisters of Bon Secours served as the first organized home health organization in 1824 – caring for the sick in their homes. From this legacy and the organization that brought the first Parish Nurse Program to the state of South Carolina, St. Francis HomeCare now brings the first Spiritual Care program to home health patients in the Upstate.
With a grant from The Duke Endowment, within our Home Health Services, our Spiritual Care program has professional chaplains who offer spiritual care to all home health patients who are in need, as well as their family members and caregivers. They have specialized education and training to mobilize spiritual resources so these patients can cope more effectively with their illness or disease. With sincerity and confidentiality, the chaplain provides supportive spiritual care through empathetic listening and counseling, demonstrating an understanding of persons in distress.
Because we realize that many people ask their pastors for information and assistance during times of illness, we continually provide educational programs and materials to church leaders and organizations throughout the Upstate. If you are interested in having someone from St. Francis HomeCare come and talk to your group, please call 864-233-5300.
A physician referral is required to access Home Health Services. If you feel you or a loved one is in need of these services, please let your physician know.
